At the end of 2009, Roy Leighton and Coral Collective colleague Dr Andrew Curran took part in a 2000km taxi driving challenge in southern India. The event, organised by Karma Enduro involved driving a 1950s Ambassador taxi from Goa to Cochin in Southern India to raise awareness and cash for UNICEF and the Rainbow Trust in the UK.
As a result, over the past year Roy has been looking at building sustainable links to be part of supporting long-term educational and enterprise projects in India. We will keep you informed of how things are progressing.
We are extremely proud to support the Chome schools programme in partnership with long-term business colleagues at Sequoia, who for five years have supported a community in Kenya by providing a school and building local enterprise. The Coral Collective have been over to the community to assist in building creative learning and to assist in the micro-funding programme, set up by Sequoia.
As part of our social enterprise, we have been working with schools local to Roy in Northamptonshire for over 10 years to develop and deliver a number of educational programmes across all key stages. We are currently providing our services free - or at cost - to help staff in local schools, as well as students and parents build a programme to link personal confidence with creative study skills. If you are local to Northants and want to find out more, then do get in touch.
